Hi from the road:
I'm standing in a KOA outside Charlottesville, VA beginning this virtual postcard while Lois Ann prepares breakfast one picnic table away. I'm tethered to the 110 volt inverter connected to the 12 volt lighter on the Ford. We've decided that this format of travel is superior to the hotel circuit. There are trees and critters all about and Time has slowed down for both of us. (By the way Dave's lymphoma scar tissue has diminished even further... and there's even a five-o'clock shadow in areas forever relegated to baldness! Hey!!!)
We left New York on Monday after doin' the World Trade Center from the 107th floor. Take a look at the view we had on that clear Sunday afternoon:

Our first stop was Philadelphia to see Independence Hall.We took a brief pass through the Ben Franklin home/museum and headed for Washington the following day. Here's Dave in front of Mount Vernon,George Washington's estate on the Potomac:

Friday we spent admiring Thomas Jefferson's home, Monticello, outside Charlottesville. This was a special treat for Dave as it had been 34 years since his last visit !

Saturday morning we visited the home of James Madison, author of the constitution, in Montpelier, Va:

Then it was off to cousin Bill Sanderson's cottage outside Charlottesville to participate in a "beagle hunt" ... oh my ... or as Lois says "geeze ya mean they still do that stuff!" Welcome to the South! It was a most interesting adventure for the two of us. We wandered through the beautiful fall fields of central Virginia as 22 hounds sniffed and tracked any rabbit in the vicinity. It's the hobby of a local doctor who organizes the hunt annually as a fund raiser for epilepsy. He raises and trains beagles which descend from the oldest hunting blood lines in America (late 1800's). It was quite unusual for two travelers who stood at the top of Manhattan just a few days before ... we're certainly enjoying the spontaneity and variety of our journey !
We mozied on down to Richmond to the fine hospitality of Jocelyn and Alan Crooker's bed and breakfast. We plan to detach the trailer and use this as a base through next weekend.
We'll keep ya posted ...
